چکیده
OBJECTIVES/HYPOTHESIS This study aimed to demonstrate the radiological properties of hyaluronic acid (HA) and calcium hydroxylapatite (CAHA) on serial computed tomography (CT) and positron emission tomography (PET) scan. STUDY DESIGN Retrospective Case Series. METHOD Retrospective chart and imaging analysis of patients who underwent HA or CAHA injection laryngoplasty. RESULT Total of 243 patients who underwent more than one CT of PET after last injection laryngoplasty were included. Sixty-eight patients received HA injection and 175 patients received CAHA injection. In all cases HA showed hypo-density in CT and no abnormal uptake on PET. CAHA showed bright calcific density on CT scan and high uptake on PET but had disappeared with time in 18 months if injected less than 0.85 mL in amount. CONCLUSION These findings support previous clinical studies on CAHA longevity and provide proper radiological interpretation on injection materials in the vocal folds. LEVEL OF EVIDENCE IV (Case series).

متن کاملRespiratory motion correction in prostate cancer positron emission tomography: A study on patients and phantom simulation
Introduction: To investigate the effects of breathing cycle and tree diaphragm motions on prostate cancer tumors standard uptake value (SUV) during positron emission tomography (PET) and to correct it. Materials and methods: Respiratory motion traces were simulated on the common patient breathing cycle and tree diaphragm motio...
متن کاملMonte Carlo Study of the Effect of Backscatter Materail Thickness on 99mTc Source Response in Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography
Introduction SPECT projections are contaminated by scatter radiation, resulting in reduced image contrast and quantitative errors. Backscatter constitutes a major part of the scatter contamination in lower energy windows. The current study is an evaluation of the effect of backscatter material on FWHM and image quality investigated by Monte Carlo simulation. Materials and Methods SIMIND program...
متن کاملVariability of radiation doses of cardiac diagnostic imaging tests: the RADIO-EVINCI study (RADIationdOse subproject of the EVINCI study)
BACKGROUND Patients with coronary artery disease can accumulate significant radiation dose through repeated exposures to coronary computed tomographic angiography, myocardial perfusion imaging with single photon emission computed tomography or positron emission tomography, and to invasive coronary angiography. Aim of the study was to audit radiation doses of coronary computed tomographic angiog...
متن کاملIn vivo molecular imaging of thrombosis and thrombolysis using a fibrin-binding positron emission tomographic probe.
BACKGROUND Fibrin is a major component of arterial and venous thrombi and represents an ideal candidate for molecular imaging of thrombosis. Here, we describe imaging properties and target uptake of a new fibrin-specific positron emission tomographic probe for thrombus detection and therapy monitoring in 2 rat thrombosis models. METHODS AND RESULTS The fibrin-binding probe FBP7 was synthesize...
